Estes Releases Its Third Annual Sustainability Report

Richmond, VA—Estes has released its 2025 Sustainability Report, highlighting the company’s continued progress toward greener trucking through reduced emissions, improved operational efficiency, and expanded visibility into shipment-level emissions information.

“As the nation’s largest privately owned freight carrier, we have the responsibility—and the opportunity—to continue to integrate sustainability into our operations through efficiency, technology, and continuous improvement,” said Sara Graf, Estes vice president of sustainability, culture, and communications. “Our annual sustainability report offers a transparent view of our ongoing work to do just that while strengthening data quality, measuring impact, and aligning with recognized industry frameworks.”

What’s in the Report

The 2025 sustainability report outlines Estes' efforts toward reducing carbon emissions across its operations, including:

  • Modernizing equipment and facilities by expanding the use of zero-emission electric vehicles and forklifts, installing more LED lighting and solar arrays at service centers, and enhancing trucks with aerodynamic features
  • Improving fuel efficiency by increasing the use of alternative and low-emission fuels, optimizing routes to reduce mileage, and leveraging driver performance and fleet data to lower fuel consumption
  • Expanding emissions visibility by strengthening their Scope 1–3 emissions reporting and enhancing shipment‑level emissions visibility, giving customers a more complete view of their environmental impact
Why it Matters

These investments are designed to deliver measurable impact across the supply chain:

  • For customers: More visibility into shipment emissions and better tools to support their own sustainability goals
  • For operations: Continued efficiency gains that support dependable, consistent service
  • For the industry: A practical approach to greener trucking—one that encourages collaboration without compromising performance at scale
